We have been together for 22 years, and married for 17. I love that we can still be silly and playful through life’s hardships and trauma.
We would like to thank you for supporting Joey and Shirley in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
We met 23 years ago through a mutual friend and instantly connected. A year later, we started dating and have been together ever since. We've shared hundreds of concerts, discovered thousands of artists and bands, and love chasing Pokémon together. Last December, Joey faced a serious health crisis, and months of recovery brought us even closer. Every day, we choose to comfort, support, and strengthen each other through life's challenges.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?More than 20 years ago, one of our favorite bands released a CD we couldn't find anywhere locally—it was before you could order most things online. We went on a road trip, driving three hours to a record store just to buy it. After finding the CD, we spent hours browsing the shelves, discovering albums and vinyl together. It became one of our favorite memories and captures our shared love of music.
What would you do with $20,000?If we had $20,000, we'd use most of it to pay off bills, save for a house down payment, and build an emergency fund. We'd also invest in self-care by enjoying the things we love most which is seeing our favorite bands perform live and continuing our quest to collect our favorite Pokémon cards. Those experiences bring us joy and help keep us connected through life's ups and downs.
