We met volunteering at Camp I Am Me in Chicago, a summer camp for child burn survivors. Jimmy is a burn survivor and Stephanie was connected though Servpro. Our campers “set us up” as dates to the dance. After a week building friendship & memories, we met for coffee after camp. We started dating then Hurricane Ian hit in 2022. Stephanie spent 2 months working in Florida doing hurricane clean up. We did long distance with Jimmy coming to visit. After that, we knew this relationship was serious.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?We love to travel and one of the best trips we did was to Arizona. We hiked and got to see the stunning red rock buttes and canyons. We roadtripped to hike the canyon slots. Most amazingly we looked at the stars every night. I’ve never seen anything as beautiful. We’d point of constellations and watch for a shooting star to make a wish.
What would you do with $20,000?Jimmy’s been taking Spanish classes with the goal of traveling abroad for an immersion class. We’d also love to give back to the Burn Support Community which provides programming for survivors of all ages and is the reason why we met.
