Connect How did your love story begin?

A mutual friend introduced us. Our friend was going out of the country and my husband was going to be dog sitting for him. I was the backup dog sitter for him in case my husband's dog and his dogs didn't get along. The three of us met for brunch but our friend failed to actually connect us before he left! So we didn't actually get to know each other until a later date when I invited our friend to an art opening. He invited my now husband and the rest is history.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

We were supposed to get married on October 5th, 2024. Hurricane Helene devastated our community on September 27th. The wedding didn't happen and we had NO running water for about 45 days. Living through a natural disaster really tests your relationship. We were so kind and good to each other through this trying time. We would always fill the toilet tank for each other so we could use the bathroom first thing the next day. I made a Valentine's Day card that said, "Baby, you fill my tank."

What would you do with $20,000?

We would likely put it towards our business that we just started. It's an interactive art/media company called Impractical Instruments. If you're familiar with Meow Wolf, it's similar to that. My husband created their sound department. We also use the company as a way to teach youth from our community a variety of art and tech skills.
