Connect How did your love story begin?

Lauren caught Jake's eye while bringing her guy best friend into the bar where Jake worked. We spent the night flirting... until her friend arrived and Jake assumed they were dating. The moment Lauren casually mentioned, "He's just my friend," the flirting resumed. We bonded over golf (Jake plays mini tours, Lauren mostly just plays for fun), had margaritas at Miguel's for our first date, and when Lauren hated her drink, Jake traded with her. We were sold.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our first camping trip. Lauren lived in a van for three years and was determined to convince Jake camping could be fun. We packed the SUV with everything we'd need... and then Lauren got E. coli on the first night. In the middle of the woods. Instead of panicking, Jake spent the weekend taking care of her. It was the first time Lauren had been SICK around him, and somehow he still made her feel like the prettiest girl in the world. Green flag unlocked.

What would you do with $20,000?

Jake would open a spreadsheet. Lauren would open Google Flights. We'd probably compromise. We'd invest in our future after recently moving in together, but we'd also make one dream come true: taking Jake on his first trip outside North America. An African safari has been at the top of our bucket list since we started dating. We'd build our future and make a few unforgettable memories along the way.
