We were destined to meet. We grew up in different NYC suburbs, but spent Sundays visiting family two blocks apart in Brooklyn, often eating at the same diner. Jackie's freshman roommate at a NY college went to high school with Andrew; he was even in pictures Jackie saw. We met a year later after Jackie transferred to an Iowa college and was in a play with Andrew's friend. The connection was instant as we realized how crazy it was that two interconnected NYers needed to go to Iowa to meet.

As NYers who met in Iowa, we bonded over a passion for new experiences. As our relationship bloomed, we moved to Michigan, Illinois, and ultimately Oregon. Once settled, Jackie proposed a simple rule: let's visit one new place a year. It could be an hour's drive away or halfway across the world. Andrew quickly agreed. That spontaneous moment remains our most cherished. We've adhered to it for decades, keeping us adventurous and launching countless experiences that bond us.

We'd definitely use the $20,000 to embark on a new adventure. Maybe a road trip across the southern US. Or maybe, we'd get two around the world airline tickets. Figuring out exactly where to go is half the fun and not something we can answer immediately. But we've learned over the years that as long as we are together there are no bad places to visit.
