Kindergarten dance partners. Wedding strangers. Funeral flirtation. Long distance. 20 years, 3 kids, and still choosing us.
Help us share our love story in Variety, take home $20,000, and go on a triple date with Jeff & Emilie Goldblum and Charlie Day & Mary Elizabeth Ellis!
I first met my husband at my godsister’s wedding, where I was a bridesmaid and he was a groomsman. I thought he was handsome, but our lives took separate paths. Years later, family, fate, and a heartbreaking loss brought us back together. On my final night in New York, he confessed he had a crush on me. I laughed with delight and admitted I felt the same. That unexpected moment became the beginning of a love story that has lasted more than 20 years.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Choosing a favorite memory is nearly impossible, but learning I was pregnant with our first child stands out. When I called Gunner, he was cautious until he knew I was happy. Our relationship was still new, and I hadn’t even decided if I wanted to move in with him. But I was excited and somehow I knew he was the one. The moment I shared my joy, he erupted with excitement. Looking back, I think he always knew we belonged together; he was just waiting for me to realize it.
What would you do with $20,000?We’re a family of five living on one income, and while we’re blessed and content, every extra dollar goes to our kids. My husband is a carpenter, and together we run a small wood-carving business from home. We’d use $20,000 to buy him a dependable pickup truck and a laser engraver to expand our business. It wouldn’t just be a purchase it would be an investment in our family’s future.
