Connect How did your love story begin?

Middle school. Early 2000s. Tiny Arkansas town. I wrote a love note inspired by George Strait’s words of wisdom: “Do you want to go out with me? Check yes or no.” I gave it to my friend to give to a cute, older boy who she shared a class with. I told her to bring me a tissue if he checked no. A few hours later, she walked towards me with a tissue in hand! My broken heart didn’t last too long, though, because she laughed, threw it in the trash, and handed me the note. He checked yes. 💛

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Many come to mind, but one that sticks out is the moment we found out we were approved to move forward with the adoption of our 5 children. They were siblings who spent years in the foster care system, and reunification with their biological family was no longer the goal. I’ll never forget the smile on his face as he hugged me, tears pricking his eyes, knowing that we were about to become parents. I saw that same smile 5 years later in the hospital room after birthing our youngest daughter.

What would you do with $20,000?

Because we missed out on so much life with 5 of our kids, we would love to use some of it for a big vacation to spend time together and make precious memories. We’d love to spoil them, show them places that they’ve never seen, and give them experiences that we’d otherwise not be able to give them!
