We’re high school sweethearts, long distance for 2 years, married and a week later moved to Alaska for 4 years. We continue to grow together
We would like to thank you for supporting Evan and Darby in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
My husband and I met at work, I was a hostess and he was a food runner. I really didn’t like him, I thought he was a jerk. Eventually he gave me his number and it took me an hour to tell him that I liked him as more than a friend. He said he knew the whole time but wanted me to say it. He has been my first everything. Our first kiss took twenty minutes of coaching, but even though it was a peck, it was magic.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? My favorite memory we’ve shared is when we found out I was pregnant. We had been trying for a couple months and I was feeling really discouraged because everyone around me got pregnant so fast. Evan came home one day and I told him I had a small feeling but wasn’t sure. He encouraged me to take a test and give it to him. Next thing I knew, he was walking in the room telling me I was pregnant. We called our whole family that night. I just knew our life would change forever for the best.
What would you do with $20,000?We never got to take a proper honeymoon because we were young and already moving across the country due to Evan being active military. I would love to renew our vows on a beach somewhere. Our wedding was cheap and small, definitely not my dream, but I didn’t care because I was marrying the love of my life. But, if we had $20,000, that sounds like a dream wedding.
