Connect How did your love story begin?

We actually dated the same person! We started talking after, and we both just wanted to know more! It was semi-long distance in the beginning. He was in Southern Jersey and myself in NYC. We would go back and forth until about six months in, Aaron partially moved in. By March, that was it! We have been together for 3 years now.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Wow, that’s hard to narrow down. Exploring each other’s childhood homes and memories was so impactful and solidifying. On a Family camping trip, we played field and board games to win the family trophy for NYC, that was epic. Now after the proposal, I don’t know how we will beat that. Aaron surprised me with a rented theatre, family and friends from all over the country, and he made a film to propose based on the efforts we went through to make long distance work. It was such a massive surprise!

What would you do with $20,000?

Evan moved to NYC to pursue his art, and is seven years sober. Both of us grew up conservative and had to learn to accept ourselves and live authentically. Aaron’s had heart surgery and two heart attacks since, time isn’t promised, so we don’t take time for granted and started saying yes. We’re both bartenders; Evan is an indie filmmaker, Aaron dreams of opening board and care facilities. This prize would help fund our wedding, pay off debt, and help launch our respective businesses.
