Our story began in Costa Rica while we were working for the same company. He had just returned home after spending a year abroad following the loss of his mother to cancer, and I had recently arrived from Venezuela, starting a new chapter after leaving my country because of the political situation. A mutual friend introduced us, and from that moment on, we’ve been inseparable. On paper, we couldn’t be more different, but somehow those differences have become one of our greatest strengths.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year, and in 2021 I was very sad after losing my job and not seeing my parents for four years. Knowing how much I missed them, he took me to a romantic Christmas dinner. While we were eating and I was getting emotional, he suddenly got up from the table and returned with my parents, who had been hiding as a surprise. We all hugged, and in that moment I knew I never wanted to be without him. Then, with my parents by our side, he proposed to me.

It has always been a dream for both of us to become parents and grow our family. As two men, that journey requires a great deal of planning, patience, and financial preparation, especially as we pursue surrogacy. This would be an amazing first step toward making that dream a reality. We know it will require significant resources, but every step brings us closer to the family we have always imagined.
