How did your love story begin?

Our story began in 2016 at the Arlington mall ice rink in Texas. Alma was struggling, clinging tightly to the wall. With my figure skating background, I skated over and offered my hand. We spent the whole afternoon skating, then walked the mall for hours. The connection was instant, but we kept our love a secret from family for four years. We married in 2020, and our ten-year romance all goes back to her trusting me enough to let go of the wall.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

My favorite memories are the trips we took to meet each other's families. Coming from different parts of the world, our connection always felt special, but visiting her family in Mexico was unforgettable. Experiencing her beautiful culture firsthand, and then watching her embrace my family and my culture, was incredibly moving. Blending our two distinct worlds together proved our love knows no borders. Sharing those deep pieces of our roots will always be my favorite memory.

What would you do with $20,000?

If we had the $20,000, we would first spend a portion of it to celebrate our milestone 10-year anniversary this year. More importantly, we would dedicate funds to establishing a breast cancer fundraiser in memory of my mother. Honoring her legacy while celebrating a decade of love and partnership with Alma would be the absolute most meaningful way we could possibly use the money.
