He’s liked me since college and after I moved across the country he asked me out with a flight/hotel/dinner reservation on Valentine’s Day.
We would like to thank you for supporting Dwight and Emma in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
We met at UCLA, became friends, and would get dinner together every week. I was two years ahead and moved across the country when I graduated; we naturally distanced. When I called him for his birthday 4 years later, something was different. He called a few weeks later and asked me out, with a flight, hotel and dinner reservation already booked (on Valentine’s day). He’d wanted to for years. He said I was the only one who has ever met his standards.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? The first time I flew to him in San Francisco from Minneapolis, he could finally tell me everything he was never able to when we were college. I work long hours and coincidentally this was one weekend where I had nothing to do; he planned a whole romantic weekend itinerary down to the hour. The stars really aligned. He drove me to Half Moon Bay and we simply stared at the waves together. He’s 6’7 and I’m 5’0 so we laughed at our shadows, acknowledging this was our new forever, our future.
What would you do with $20,000?We’re saving up to get married in 2027 - it would be such a dream to be able to afford not only the wedding of our dreams, but to host a celebration that can properly honor all of our friends and family who have contributed both to the people we are individually and the couple we have grown to be together.
