Connect How did your love story begin?

Met in college. Classic lol. Dustin went on to marry one of our good friends, Jami. She was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (autoimmune) our senior year. I finished undergrad & grad degrees overseas (UK) working for the Airforce. Jami passed away 5/2019 from colon cancer. Dustin raised his 2 kids on his own. I ended up in several very bad relationships (life threatening), diagnosed with my own autoimmune diseases and cancer scares. Dustin and I reconnected 4 years ago. Inseparable ever since!

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

It’s so funny to look back & laugh at college days & talk @ how Dustin liked me first (B4 Jami) but I wasn’t interested in him lol. He was a safe kind of love even back then, but I grew up in an abusive home environment & had no idea what safe love was. It felt foreign to me. I don’t think I was ready for someone to show up for me like he does now. But I know how to show up for him too, it’s not just one way. It’s taken a lot of pain & heartache & kicks around the block to find each other again.

What would you do with $20,000?

In truth, my logical brain is like yo, we need the assistance each month for my out of pocket medications that insurance doesn’t cover, as well as another car. Dustin was in an accident that totaled our other car in November 2025. So thankful he was ok & the other people were too! Lord my heart! We share the one SUV we have although it’s older and needs some work! BUT we also haven’t been on a vacation in a while & would be amazing to take a break!
