We met at a club in Austin, Texas. DJ was suffering in a bad relationship with an abusive partner, and JC had been celebrating his birthday with his best friend. A connection happened that night that neither one of us expected or planned. Neither one was looking for anything, but a higher power had other plans. Over 20 years later, here we still are.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?The day we got married, before it was legal for same-sex couples. We weren't married according to the law (yet) but we were in our hearts and, we believe, in the eyes of God.
What would you do with $20,000?A large portion would go to our local LGBTQ+ Charities, especially those that help LGBTQ+ youth. With the rest, we would pay off some bills and use then either invest in our catering business that we have together (we are a Certified LGBTBE) or use it toward a down payment for a house of our own.
