Connect How did your love story begin?

Our love story began at a university picnic. I was new to the campus and didn’t know many people, while Tan was an established student and also a well known musician. He noticed me, made a plate of food for me, and brought it over with a warm smile. We liked each other from the very first day, and that simple act of kindness sparked a connection that grew into a love story lasting 27 years, building a family and a lifetime of memories. Our family, ethnicity, background, nothing mattered.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our love story is our most treasured memory. In 35 years together (27 years of marriage), we've built a life filled with love and meaning. Raising our three daughters and facing every joy and challenge side by side has made every moment unforgettable. We knew from the start that a lifetime together would never be enough, and our most beautiful memories are still the ones we're creating today. If we had to pick, our blind child screaming "I can see the moon!" would be up there!

What would you do with $20,000?

We feel truly blessed for the life we have built together. If we were fortunate to receive the $20,000, we would use it to create more memories with our family, including accessibility-friendly trips . However, the greatest gift is sharing our story. We hope it inspires couples to believe that true love is worth fighting for. Family, ethnicity, hardships, or financial challenges should not stand in the way of two people who truly choose each other.
