Connect How did your love story begin?

Classic pandemic love story: player and their Dungeon Master fall in love. A mutual friend kept arranging times to get us to meet and hang out. Eventually Josh needed another player in his D&D campaign. Dev’s grandma barbarian was quick to claim his heart while his ability to weave stories claimed hers. On one fateful day, he did the unthinkable by calling (instead of texting) to ask her on a date! D&D continues to be a touchstone for us as we play weekly and was highlighted at our wedding.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

We’ve gone on many adventures together! A hard choice but our proposal story stands out. For Josh, he designed a scavenger hunt during our stay on Fire Island. Dev’s unfamiliarity with the terrain and her competitiveness worked in Josh’s favor. We raced all over for clues, leading to the final prize: Josh proposing on a beach overlooking the bay. Shortly after this, Dev enlisted Josh’s best friend to game master a D&D session ending with Dev both as her character and herself proposing to Josh.

What would you do with $20,000?

We’re taking the Selesnicks to Isengard! To Isengard! Our dream is to retrace the Fellowship’s steps by embarking on a Lord of the Rings tour of New Zealand. This journey will take us from cozy Hobbit holes to the depths of Mordor. Will there be time for second breakfast? Will Josh need to carry Dev up Mount Doom? Will we resist the call of the ring? Only time…and your vote will tell! Remaining funds will be used to help expand our adventuring party from 2 to 3 as we start a family! :)
