How did your love story begin?

A true serendipity love story. I took a job in a junior high school's special education department because I felt called back into education. At the same time, Colleen tried Match.com and emailed five guys she was interested in. Four responded—one did not. When I first saw Colleen, I hoped I would get to work with her. Sure enough, I ended up in her classroom. Later, we discovered the one guy who never replied to her Match.com message was me. Nearly 12 years later, we're still writing our story

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

We have so many fond memories together. Colleen just turned 50 and celebrated with an epic karaoke party, and she is every bit as beautiful today as when we first met. From our wedding day, to raising Maddie (10), to watching her walk across the stage and receive her doctorate, each milestone has been special. Our fondest recent memory is escaping to Michigan, setting our phones aside, and simply enjoying time together as a family, relaxing at the beach/making memories that will last forever.

What would you do with $20,000?

If awarded the $20,000, we would split it evenly between two organizations that are close to our hearts. Half would support THRIVE Coaching & Consulting, founded by Colleen, which helps people grow through a coaching model rooted in neuroscience, executive function, mental performance, and personal development. The other half would support Dads of Steele the nonprofit I founded to strengthen families and communities by encouraging and equipping dads to be more present and engaged in their child
