Connect How did your love story begin?

We were both working at our local Kohls Department store when we met. Darryl pursued me by going out of his way for us to meet up. I was coming out of a relationship and wasn't sure. He finally crashed a girls night with friends of mine and we ended up talking all night long. He ended up transferring colleges and we moved in together right before he was deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba with the Army. The rest is history.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

It is hard to choose just one memory but one of our all time favorite memories as a couple is when Darryl proposed. He proposed on a hot air balloon over Traverse City, MI. The hot air balloon driver even skimmed the treetops to grab a "leaf bouquet" from the trees for me. It was extremely surprising because my dream proposal was always on a hot air balloon and I never had told anyone that! It was meant to be!

What would you do with $20,000?

This year is our 20th year anniversary. Our son also graduated high school this year, so the week of our anniversary was also his graduation party. We were not able to go away for our anniversary. If we won $20,000, we would spend some of it to go on an anniversary getaway and possibly make a new favorite memory as a couple! We would also take our family of four on a small vacation and put some of the money towards our charity, Wandrie's Wishes, as well!
