We met in 2012 online by sheer chance. We were playing the same game online when our paths crossed. It was like finding my best friend who simply got me. I was going through the death of my father and he was fresh out of a 19 year marriage destroyed by drugs. Both of us were healing from a raw hurt that the other deeply understood- watching what we deeply loved be taken away. From that moment we were inseparable, talking daily, learning to smile again, trust again, perhaps heal and love again.

My favorite memory has to be the time I was at my wits end going through chemo treatment. I was sick, tired, and losing quickly my fight. I didn’t tell anyone but somehow Jeff knew. He came in swooped me up and took me away from all things cancer for a few days. We went on a three day road trip through Blue Ridge, the Smokies and Nashville. He stopped at my favorite places, and let me just have time to breathe. He simply showed me it’s ok he has me and loves me through it all, even bald.

We could put the money down on the house we moved to the farm for but that wouldn’t be what I truly wanted. Since our move my health has went down some and I had to quit my job. Jeff left his to take another job making more money. This job keeps him away for weeks at a time. I would use the money to have him back home with me everyday. It would allow breathing room for him to find a job at home. I miss him when he is gone so badly. And maybe we might take a ride to the Smokies again with some.
