We would like to thank you for supporting Danielle and Denae (The DD's) in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
Our story began on my birthday when we matched on Facebook Dating. We both brought unique journeys to the table: Danielle came out at 40 after a 14-year marriage to a man, and I came out at 14, later spending 12 years married to a woman. Today, we're starting over together with three kids-her 16-year-old son, 11-year-old daughter, and my 10-year-old daughter. Our girls are thick as thieves. We are true yin and yang, but we work perfectly because we are hopelessly in love!
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Early on, we took a chilly Pride boat ride in Salem Harbor. I didn't bring a jacket and was freezing. The male bartenders were being a little flirty, so Danielle was playfully teasing them back, doing the “I’m watching you” motion with her eyes. Suddenly, Danielle disappeared. A minute later, she walked up holding a warm sweatshirt. She had literally bought it right off the back of one of the bartenders! That’s just who she is-hilarious, resourceful, and always taking care of me.
What would you do with $20,000?This would be completely life-changing for our crew. First, we’d breathe a sigh of relief by wiping out some debt. Then, we’d take our three kids on an unforgettable family vacation to Europe to celebrate how far we've come as a blended family. Finally, we want to pay it forward: any remaining funds will go straight to the ACLU and The Trevor Project to ensure LGBTQ+ youth are protected at all costs.
