A mutual friend connected us. Our first date was a board game night in my apartment. We played a board game about the election of 1960 for hours on end. The rest of the weekend, we were inseparable and have been ever since.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?While there are so many wonderful memories, the funniest and the one we share with people most often is the story of our wedding. Around every corner there was some sort devastation, ending with our wedding planner stealing $13k and not planning our wedding. We had to pull together a wedding for 180 people in 3 days. Spoiler alert: it happened and the community really came together to help us make it beautiful.
What would you do with $20,000?We are co-founders of a non-profit, Project Sauce. It’s an organization that cooks meals in our studio apartment kitchen and fills the community fridges in Downtown Brooklyn every Sunday. With $20,000, we would try to find a commercial space to move to a larger space and make more meals for the community. We also advocate for systemic change in the fight against poverty. We believe that poverty is a policy choice, and it’s time to choose something better.
