Connect How did your love story begin?

We met when we were both at Coffee Camp, on the Tule River the summer of ‘73. I slipped and broke several toes, so Dave actually carried me up the trail, out to his vehicle and drove me home & carried me up the stairs to my family home at River Island, outside of Porterville, Ca. My Mom only met Dave that one time and then turned to ask me “Barbara, what have you gotten yourself into now?!’ We dated all summer until he didn’t call me in August, as I was getting ready to go away to college!

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

I had bumped into Dave’s older brother where I currently lived at a work function and again at his office, when I was working with his associate. I introduced myself and told him how I knew his youngest brother (who died in a tragic accident in 1974), and had dated his brother Dave. 7 years later he gave Dave the message. Dave contacted me on Facebook & then scheduled to come visit me in Grizzly Flats, as he was moving out of Oregon and on his way down to sail to Catalina Island with his sil.

What would you do with $20,000?

We would subdivide our property and donate a portion of our property for a public park in our community that was hit by the Caldor Fire & dedicate it to my parents! My Father was the Civil Engineer that designed Grizzly Flats, so his signature is on every land owner’s Deed. We would love to honor them, although Fave already has with a Barn Quilt displayed on the front of our home ❣️
