Karaoke. Specifically, Christina’s law school friend and TJ’s friend’s friend. An unplanned connection in the time when online dating apps started to enter our lives. We never matched on the dating apps but luckily met in the wild. TJ made the first move asking to play dice, team against team then we played one on one. We learned we were both competitive and did not like losing. By the end of the night, we finally exchanged names and TJ asked for Christina’s SnapChat instead of her number.

Within a week or two of meeting, we went on day trip to Washington, D.C. to pick up TJ’s 4K tv (that we still have all these years later) from his ex. 4 hour drive to D.C., we had great conversation then lunch at the Wharf eating crabs (no cute way to eat them), then the zoo, then dinner. He left to get the TV and I found a bar and he immediately met me after. The night ended with a kiss back home and we’ve been together ever since (almost 10 years).

We recently bought our new home and planning for our future, so with a portion of the $20,000 we plan to put it into a college savings account for our future children. Then with another portion of the money, we’d love to take the honeymoon to Japan that we haven’t had the chance to take! If there’s any left, we may pay off any grad school debt or put it into our home.
