By complete chance in San Diego. I (Rebecca) was there for a conference, staying at an AirBnB. Up the street was a dive bar. I was bored and decided to go on a whim. Chip was a bartender there but happened to be there that night just hanging out. After he intervened when a guy got creepy Chip told me I didn’t need to hang out with him, just that he wanted to warn me about that guy. I immediately knew he was someone I wanted to get to know better. I found him fascinating, for so many reasons.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Rebecca: It’s hard to pick just one. I think the time I stayed with him in San Diego for a week when we first started dating. The whole week was so much fun. I remember coming down the stairs in the airport and seeing him standing there with roses. I missed a step because I was so focused on him and almost fell on my butt.
What would you do with $20,000?Put a down payment in a house. Having a place that’s ours and ours alone has been a dream for years, but it seems more and more like a fantasy as the years go by. I’m grateful for my career, but choosing to pursue the wildlife field of veterinary medicine has not helped improve our chances.
