A surprise blind date I wasn’t thrilled about turned into everything. I didn’t even know it was happening until we were on our way to pick Brian up from the airport. While helping my best friend move to Florida, she and her boyfriend secretly set us up. I resisted, but one date changed everything. We dated long-distance for two years before moving to Charlottesville to open a Vocelli Pizza. Nearly 20 years later, we're still going strong.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Our favorite memory as a couple was opening Roux St. Cafe. For years, it was just a dream we talked about late at night. Together, we planned it, built it, and poured our hearts into every detail. Opening day wasn't just the start of a restaurant. It was proof that after years of marriage, raising three kids, and running a business together, we could still create something new side by side. That moment felt like magic.
What would you do with $20,000?If we won $20,000, we would invest it in the future of Roux St. Cafe. Opening our restaurant was the fulfillment of a dream years in the making, and our next goal is to grow it into a franchise. The prize money would help us refine our systems, strengthen our brand, and take the first steps toward sharing Roux St. with other communities. For us, it wouldn't just be an investment in a business. It would be an investment in a dream we've built together.
