We met through mutual friends; he had just moved to Orlando, where I was living. He was doing a show of which I was unaware...when I saw him the second time, he grabbed my phone and entered his phone number so I would be able to connect with him. He insists he was just trying to make a new friend but he kissed me a few days later...and hasn't stopped.

Probably the simple dinner we shared on the Piazza Navona in Rome. It was close to our anniversary, twilight, and a street musician was playing Italian folk songs on guitar. We worked really hard for several years to be able to afford that trip, so it was the realization of a dream with multiple moving parts.

We never had a big wedding or a true honeymoon. Worried the possibility might be rescinded, we got married the first day it became legal in the state of New York. With such short notice many of our family members couldn't make it and it was just a small gathering. We got married and that was it. We would spend some of the amount on a vow renewal celebration and then donate what we can to Make the Road NY, an organization dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ community organizing and trans advocacy.
