How did your love story begin?

We met at Subway! He was a sandwich artist, and I was a big fan of his fresh-baked buns. 😉 I was a high school senior who just happened to stop in after dance line… every single day. He was in town playing USHL hockey. I wasn’t exactly subtle—I needed napkins, a fork, a cookie… anything to keep talking to him. Finally, he asked my plans. I told him where I worked, and that night he showed up, asked me to a movie, and we saw Misery that night! (Not a sign of things to come thank goodness!)

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

We have so many favorite memories, but one will always hold a special place in our hearts: finding our forever home on Leech Lake in Walker, Minnesota. The night before closing, we slept in a hotel with all four of our kids, our dogs, and every possession we owned packed into a moving truck. The next morning, we unlocked the door to the home we’d dreamed about for years. Fifteen years earlier, we’d visited this very lake with our kids and said, “Someday, we’ll live here.” That dream came true!

What would you do with $20,000?

If we were fortunate enough to receive $20,000, we would use it in a way that strengthens both our home and our family experiences. A portion would go toward meaningful home improvements—projects that make our space more comfortable, functional, and lasting for years to come. At the same time, we would set aside some of it to create lasting memories together, whether through travel or special experiences with our kids.
