Connect How did your love story begin?

What started as a Facebook friend request before freshman year turned into the greatest love story of my life. Autumn and I became friends before learning we'd both been assigned to Emerson Hall at Miami University. A movie before move-in was the beginning of something special. Years later, we married and chose Emerson as our last name—a daily reminder of the place where friendship grew into forever.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our favorite memory is our wedding day—not just because we got married, but because we got to celebrate our love surrounded by the people who made us feel safe and supported. When “Pink Pony Club” played and our queer friends scream-sang beside us on the dance floor, I felt a moment I’ll never forget. Younger me never imagined this kind of love was possible, and that night I felt completely surrounded by it.

What would you do with $20,000?

If we win the $20,000, we plan to give it to my sister and her husband to help them continue growing their family. For years, they've faced infertility and endured multiple failed treatments while carrying the emotional and financial burden that comes with it. Despite every setback, they've never stopped hoping to welcome another child. We'd love the opportunity to help ease that burden and support their dream of making their family feel complete.
