We met as theatre majors at Radford University in VA. I (April) was a year older and at the meet and greet night for new students, I noticed Scott’s last name. I said, “Scott Sal-VANT (with a French accent), that’s a cool name.” He said, “It’s SAL-vant ( with an American accent)” I said, “well, it’s cooler the way I said it.” We started hanging out and by the end of the semester our first date was the cast party for Cinderella. We were engaged a yr later and married a yr after that.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?There are too many to share here. The birth of our children, the adoptions of our sons, our time living in other countries and traveling, the purchase of our first home, many concerts and shows, simple afternoons playing scrabble, Costa Rica with our kids only 6 weeks after a April’s brain tumor surgery, seeing our kids become self sufficient adults…how can any of these be a favorite?!
What would you do with $20,000?We would take some of it to refinish our primary bathroom and the rest we would gift to our kids and a donation to April’s non-profit, I Need A Miracle (that gives free concert tickets to metastatic cancer patients).
