Connect How did your love story begin?

We met at Coppin State in Baltimore, MD, in 1997. I was a country girl attending college in the city which drew Andre to me. He used to follow me through the game room on a regular basis and we ended up connecting because of the overlap in our friend group. We became fast friends and had a short period of will they, won’t they. Due to an unforeseen death in the family, we immediately drew closer and our love began to bloom.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Favorites are hard because my husband makes even the most common moments feel special. Since I have to pick just one, I would say before we got married my parents agreed to take me down to see Andre for his graduation from basic training (Army). I knew his family couldn’t make it and I was so giddy to bring mine honor him. We had written each other every day while he was away. To get to go see and celebrate him in person was a gift. I was his biggest cheerleader then and I still am today!

What would you do with $20,000?

This year Andre and I celebrate 25 years of marriage. I grew up as an Army brat and have wanted desperately to take our family on a European vacation to see the places where I lived and visited in my youth. I want us to make new memories together as I welcome them into an important part of my past. This would truly be a dream come true!
