How did your love story begin?

After being best friends for years, we supported each other through medical issues, family loss & celebrations, etc. We did everything together. A coworker commented on how much we make each other laugh. That led to bigger discussions about what we mean to each other. Eventually, Karen took the leap and asked, "What if I'm in love with you?" I (Allie) realized that I was also in love with her. Once we started telling people, everyone said they were just waiting for us to figure it out.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Narrowing down a favorite is difficult. Honestly, the routines we share at night, NYT games & reading, are some of the best moments of our week. Other than that, each summer when we go to Maine, we hike together - Karen has helped me rediscover my love of nature & pushes me to keep climbing upward (literally). After a particularly grueling hike, we love to get ice cream sandwiches and eat them on the deck overlooking the lake. We look forward to this trip every year!

What would you do with $20,000?

We built a business together over the past year (Fireside Counseling in Atlanta, GA - we're both therapists) & we would love to invest the funds into our business in order to continue to help mentor young clinicians in their work in supporting local families, children, & adults. If we're being completely honest, we would also help Karen's kids pay off student loans.
