We met the way a lot of couples do these days: on Hinge. I had gone on about 40 first dates before I found him. On our fourth date, I brought fortune cookies from San Francisco, and his said, “Don’t scatter your energies.” He took it to heart and never dated anyone else. Our first date lasted 10 hours, and it just felt easy. A year later, it’s still full of laughter, peace, love, and the certainty that we were meant to find each other.

Coachella during Robin Schulz’s set: in the middle of the music and excitement, we looked at each other and said “I love you” for the first time. It wasn’t planned or rehearsed — it just happened because it felt right. The song felt like it was speaking to us, especially the line, “if you love me, say you love me, speak your mind.” Every time we hear it, we’re taken right back to that moment. If we had $20,000, we’d want to use it in a way that builds both our present and our future. $10K would go into savings and investments for our long-term goals. $5K would be for a travel experience; somewhere new where we can slow down and just be us. And $5K would go into our shared life: our place, little upgrades, and experiences that make everyday life feel like ours.
