A tale of 20+ years filled with challenges, adventures, love, and geeky pastimes. Often poorer and in sickness, but always richer together.
Help us share our love story in Variety, take home $20,000, and go on a triple date with Jeff & Emilie Goldblum and Charlie Day & Mary Elizabeth Ellis!
Aaron and I (Lisa) first met when I was 14 and he was 18. I was his younger brothers' sergeant in Civil Air Patrol and instantly developed the biggest crush on the cute guy dropping his brothers off each week. Despite all my doe-eyed looks, he had absolutely no idea I existed. Four years later, we ran into each other during my Purdue campus visit. This time he noticed my (admittedly awful) flirting. We started dating a few weeks later on Valentine's Day, and we've been together ever since.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?I (Lisa) have always been a total geek (PC games, anime, comics). Aaron was geeky too (music, console games, movies). When we got together he swore he'd never watch anime. Then I came home one day and caught him frantically turning off the TV. Thinking he'd been watching something naughty, I turned it back on... halfway through my Dragon Ball Z collection! Now he loves anime, I love console games and movies, he plays more WoW than I do, but I still don't know all the random movie facts he does.
What would you do with $20,000?We'd finally take the honeymoon we never had. When we got together, Aaron's dad was terminally ill, and caring for him became our priority after his mom left the next year. We always said, "Next year," but life kept getting in the way: health issues, finances, new jobs, moving across the country, and never enough vacation time. $20,000 would finally let us celebrate our 20-year-delayed honeymoon in Japan, Germany, Hawaii, Albania... or a few. And of course, pay off bills with what is left.
