Connect How did your love story begin?

We met at the gym! I was introduced to him by a mutual friend, and when he smiled, it was like the universe turned the brightness up around his face. We slowly got to know each other through the gym, and playing Magic the Gathering (a card game) with friends over the next year. We would chat by our cars and while eating with our friends after game nights. It was a shock for him when I first confessed, but he was a gentleman and a green flag all the way through.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Meeting our families back to back over the holidays, and the resulting proposal just after New Years! Our families were nonchalant about us being together, despite us only having been dating maybe 4 months at the time! Both our mothers pulled us aside to say the same thing: “Just get married already!” We got trapped in a freak snowstorm while at my parent’s house that kept us in Indiana for an extra day or so, and that’s when I ended up proposing! My sister even took snowy photos for us!

What would you do with $20,000?

We both do freelance work, so we would take an actual vacation! Finally do a honeymoon that we haven’t had the time or bandwidth to do. A train trip across the country, or see the northern lights in Alaska! In freelance work, you never know if/when there will be more work, so it’s really hard to take time off without worrying about the financial side of things.
