Bill Cothran and Rebecca Bautista met November 17, 1972, in the Philippines while he was in the US Marines during the Vietnam War Nam War. We were introduced by a friend. She was a music store manager in Olongapo City, outside the Subic Navy Base. We got to know each other very well by daily letters over the next month. Enough to get married in secret on December 18, 1973. The military refused to let us get married and parents were not in favor of our marriage. A month later Bill returned USA.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?We have tried to have weekly courting date nights. Our family relationships are most important. We have merged our 2 cultures and 2 religions into long and lasting relationship with 2 daughters, 10 grandchildren, and now first great-grandson.
What would you do with $20,000?Having come from poor households. We have been richly blessed in developing our education and occupational pursuits to support our family throughout the many trials, locations, and travel challenges in our lives. We would like to take another vacation with our family as we did for our 50th Anniversary and reserve some $$ for our 3rd/4th generation. We appreciate the chance to share the bigger story of our marriage successes and challenges over our wonderful almost 53 years. Thank you!
