Mike and I met through my sister and her husband at the time in 2006. They were serving in the US Navy together. Mike saw a picture of me at my sister’s house and asked who I was. My brother in law called me and handed the phone to Mike. We became friends who spoke frequently and eventually started dating 11 months later. We got engaged after dating 6 months and eloped 7 months later. We eventually had a wedding with family and friends the following year.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Our first official date 12/7/2006. Mike tried for months to date and I kept telling him I just wanted to be friends. We finally went to dinner and I admitted that I liked him and wanted to start dating each other. Later that evening we watched a movie and shared our first kiss.
What would you do with $20,000?We will use the $20,000 to open a preschool in our underserved community, providing quality early childhood education, school readiness, and a safe, supportive space for local families. This funding will help secure a location, purchase learning materials, and begin building a foundation for lifelong learning and equity.
