Connect How did your love story begin?

Tyrone and I had known each other for years at Elizabeth City State University, but our true story began senior year in the psychology club—he was president, I was vice president. Something just clicked. A "homework call" turned into hours of talking, laughter, and connection. On Thanksgiving 2007, he asked me to be his. 18 years and five kids later, his love still feels like home—playful, steady, and true. The spark we found then still warms my heart today.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

One of our favorite memories together will always be our first vacation together—spring break 2008. We didn’t go far, just stayed at my cousin’s place in Virginia Beach, but it felt like our own little world. It was the first time we got to see what life together could really feel like. We walked the beach, shopped for groceries, watched movies, and just existed in this peaceful rhythm. I remember thinking, “I could do this forever.” In that moment, I knew—she was my forever.

What would you do with $20,000?

With $20,000, we would love to put half toward a down payment on our first home together—a place where we can continue building memories with our children and, one day, our grandchildren. The other half we’d use to plan a meaningful family vacation and a small vow renewal. We never had a wedding ceremony, so this would be our chance to celebrate our love with the people who matter most.
