Connect How did your love story begin?

Several years ago, my best friend added me to an online gratitude group. It was a great place to go and write positive stories about things in which we were grateful for, instead of complaining about the lack in our lives. That was when I read a beautiful and heartfelt story, written by some guy, who was grateful for all the people who were supporting him through his divorce. He also said that he was a man with a checkered past. I replied, I love a man with a checkered past. The rest's history.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Jeff and I dated, for our first several months, via FaceTime. He lived in Virginia and I lived in Las Vegas. We eventually came to terms that we needed to actually meet in person. We both had an intellectual and emotional connection. We needed to know if the chemistry was there. Jeff sent me an airplane ticket, for Virginia, so that we could have our first date on Valentine's Day. He met me at the airport, and when he reached for my bags, his hand trembled. That's when I knew I loved him.

What would you do with $20,000?

Jeff proposed to me right before the epidemic broke out, so we had to postpone. Soon afterwards, his lovely and wonderful mother passed, from cancer. We postponed our wedding, once again. Then Jeff had to undergo a few surgeries, and so our wedding stayed on the back burner. Finally, when the coast was clear, we just eloped. We never got to go on a proper honeymoon. Jeff couldn't afford to take anymore time off of work. So if we won the money, we'd take a tropical vacation to someplace magical.
