38 years ago, I was the only woman (24 yo) in a welding class of about 25 guys. I had 3 kids. I wasn't married. My life was rough. My classmates played all their misogynistic reindeer games non-stop. One young guy, a damned good welder, would lowkey dismantle all their testosterone. One day, according to the daily flex, he joked about liking his coffee and his women "cold and bitter." I, alone, laughed. Smackdown, guys. Also, "cold and bitter " was ME!! We just toasted 37 years married.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?We went to ireland 8 years ago. We stood, far apart from each other, on the cliffs of Achille Island, looking over the wild, gorgeous, crashing Atlantic Ocean. For hours. We never said a word to each other. That was everything.
What would you do with $20,000?We'd put money in a trust for our daughter who is 19 and developmentally disabled. We'd make a good donation to an awesome local clinic Hope (Ypsilanti Michigan) and we'd go away, probably hiking in Canada for a few days.
