When we first met, we were 17 and spent every single day together being rebellious teenagers. We remained incredibly close until we were 22 and he moved out of state, and we both married the wrong person. 23 years later, and after not speaking for a little over 7 years, he reached out to finally shoot his shot and the timing was so uncanny, it had to be my prayer from all those years ago being answered, as he was the ONLY person alive that could heal my heart after losing my son and dad.

Our first day reunited was when I flew from Michigan to San Diego to meet him as his job there ended and we drove 20 hrs to our home in Spokane. It was like no time had passed, and all that had changed was he now saw me as his, and I saw him as finally mine. Today, one year to the day of that trip, I made the exact same journey, except I flew from our home in Spokane to join the road trip home together once more. I think we've accidentally created our first tradition! Anniversary road trips!

I would marry this man, and make sure he ALWAYS wore a smile for the rest of our lives. He saved me that day he called me out of the blue and I will ALWAYS give him all I have for bringing me back from the edge of darkness. After losing my Dad, and then my 20 yr old son, they left me with a grief I still struggle with daily, but this man's love and faith in me has reminded me I have a life to live, he gave it back to me, and has healed wounds he didn't cause. He's always been mine.
