We met in HS Theater. Our friendship grew while hanging with a group watching movies, going on trips, celebrating holidays etc. We would talk on instant messaging for hours. Tom asked Joy out but Joy said no. Tom didn’t want to lose their friendship so for 2 years they continued to hangout. Joy has a full body pain condition and Tom told her he loved her and wanted to be the one to take care or her. After 6 years of friendship, and 2 failed attempts on Tom’s part, Joy finally said yes to date.

There are too many favorites to mention! We just love to be together! Any time we get to go to a thrift store, see a movie, or go food shopping is a favorite because we are together. I guess our favorite thing to do together is work with teenagers and watch them grow. For the last 20 years, even before we were dating, we were serving at church in the youth group. We are also teachers of MS and HS students. Helping them make decisions and being a part of their lives will always be our favorite!

We would love to put a front porch on our house. Tom loves to sit and listen to the rain while he reads and Joy loves to sit with Tom. Tom has always wanted a front porch where they could put the swing he bought for Joy for their wedding anniversary. This money would provide for the porch and allow for a down payment on a new car for Joy, whose car is 12 years old and starting to show its age. If possible we would love to set some money aside for a trip to Disney Land, a dream trip of ours.
