Tim and I have been married for 35 years. We love to laugh and enjoy life to the fullest together.
You decide who wins $20,000 and appears in Variety magazine as America’s Favorite Couple
We met when Janell moved home after college & Tim was a local sophomore. When he asked her out, she figured it was just for fun since he was so much younger (3 years). Over the next two years, Tim made it clear he would never get married before he finished his air force pilot training. Fast forward to May of his senior year when he pulled up in his convertible, stood up on his back seat and serenaded her on his saxophone to propose. Janell was shocked. We were married 3 months later.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Having not much money & even less time, we booked a weekend cabin at Lake Wister State Park in Oklahoma to celebrate our six-month anniversary. We basically had the park to ourselves as it was bitter cold in February—so cold that we barely left our cabin. We made spaghetti and sandwiches, trapped mice (14!), played board games and Crazy-8s (slightly modified for newlyweds). Having since been around the world, this weekend in a little frozen rodent-infested cabin is one of our best memories.
What would you do with $20,000?We’ve hosted international college students from Brazil. We’ve been hoping to go visit them and their families someday. $20,000 would go a long way in helping us get there. We’ve also been blessed with our first grandchild, a boy born in February. We would love to use some of the money to start a college fund for him.
