It’s been 20 years, we still make each other laugh, sing kitchen karaoke and support each other through growth and loss and life.

We met while he was home from Iraq, and fate brought us back together at a karaoke night a mutual friend invited us to. That night became our tradition—he’d sing to me, and one look in his eyes told me I’d marry him. Two years later, I did—on the same day we started dating. Since then, we’ve weathered PTSD, grief, six beautiful children, and cross-country moves. Through it all, we still find each other and still sing. That’s our forever.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Our favorite memory is a road trip up the East Coast for an IVF procedure. We sang karaoke to each other the entire drive, laughing and holding onto hope. We stopped at a bed and breakfast in Amish country and soaked in the quiet before one of the biggest moments of our lives. That journey ended with the greatest gift we could imagine—our son.
What would you do with $20,000?We would pay off our remaining debt and create spaciousness in our budget so that we were able to give back to our community and teach our children what it means to truly love well and take care of one another. We are both very passionate about outreach programs and making sure that every human is well loved.
