In 2020, we texted on and off through Snapchat. I knew him from Marching Band. I was a freshman and he was a sophomore. When we came back to school in-person, he made his move. I was sitting on the bleachers during band camp, being hit on by some random guy in my grade. Dolf came over and basically told him to scram, haha, then he asked me about myself. Def a “the rest is history” moment. Becoming close to each other felt like destiny. It’s been 4 never-boring, always supportive years.

4 years already holds so much, but so far nothing has topped our very first date. We met at the fair, couple of kids. He just came from band practice and his BO was rancid. I thought it was the cutest thing. We kissed at the top of the ferris wheel, then laughed about how corny that was. We only had about an hour together, but that night I knew I couldn’t be without him.

Times are tough. Signing up for this was a shot in the dark, we live on our own with no financial support from our families (not that they wouldn’t if they could). We would give ourselves relief and use it as a down payment on our first home. We are young and it seems early, but there’s no time like the present and with me being in school to become a teacher and him starting his business, this would be the push we need to have the life we deserve together.
