How did your love story begin?

April - We met the old-fashioned way --- an online personal ad a friend suggested I make. I was getting very tired of waiting for love and decided to be proactive. Shawn's response was the most honest. It ended with the line "I bet you'll never respond." And I thought, "Well, I'll show him," and responded, "Shows what you know". In a way, I'm still showing him --- with love, of course.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Shawn - When we were expecting our daughter, we were at the baby section of the local Toys R’ Us. We found a stuffed rabbit and I named it Mr. Snugglebutt and said, "Look, Mr. Snugglebutt wuvs you." It made her laugh, and it was one of those “All is right with the world” moments. April - Shawn got a parrot (with zoo keeper permission) to spontaneously dance to the song Dela by Johnny Clegg (it's in the movie George of the Jungle) for my birthday. The parrot was really into those beats.

What would you do with $20,000?

We want to use the $20,000 to help expand our family. We lost our 1st daughter, Bessie Evelyn Sumner, to medical complications. It took some years emotionally to recover from that loss, and now we need resources for fertility treatment and other resources to help make this pregnancy and childbirth as successful as possible. Or if not, adoption fees. Yes, there are so many fun things to do with this money, but using it to complete our family just feels right.
