Our love story started long before we even knew it. I’d been best friends with his cousin since I was 14, and I even attended his wedding in ’97. But it wasn’t until 2004, after his divorce, that things truly began. I found out he’d secretly asked about through his aunt. Our first date was ice skating, and after that, From that moment on, we were joined at the hip and built something truly meaningful.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? One of our favorite memories is the day he proposed. I had just quit my job and was getting ready for his youngest’s 8th grade graduation. He went to my dad to ask for my hand, which meant the world to me. My dad said yes—then offered him a drink and added, “You know she doesn’t have a job, right?” He laughed and said, “I know… but I still want to marry her.” That moment still makes us laugh and reminds us how real and perfect our love is.
What would you do with $20,000?If we had $20,000, we’d finally plan the real honeymoon we never got to take. We’ve done a few trips, staycations, and mini vacations, but nothing like a true honeymoon. After our wedding, we focused on saving for my husband’s reversal so we could try to conceive. That took a couple years, and once we had our little bundle of joy, the honeymoon got pushed aside. Then when we finally thought about planning one, COVID hit and the world shut down—we just never got back to it.
