I came there to dance, with my monthly dancing buddy. But the new venue was sparsely occupied, despite the great DJs she had organized, so we spent the evening mostly just talking. The next week, I had the urge to dance again. That’s when she took a chance and made plans for us to meet up for coffee. She knew the second our hands touched. It took me 6 weeks to realize she was my soulmate.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Back in 2011, there were only 6 states where we were allowed to be wed, so we planned to drive from Michigan to New York to make it legal, prior to a planned ceremony amongst friends. After a job loss, we decided to take advantage of my new free time to quietly elope on 11.11.11. In a kismet series of events, we ended up accidentally becoming the 1st gay marriage in Buffalo, and the poster couple for destination gay weddings! It was a fairy tale, pulled together in 2 days, like magic!
What would you do with $20,000?We would take our dream honeymoon to New Zealand and Australia! When we were wed, it was a shoestring wedding, with a 1-night mini-moon at Niagara Falls. Since then, we have traveled the world together, but we still haven’t made it to our dream destination.
