We met online at the start of COVID and we didn’t meet for 2.5 years. 5 years later and we are married! 9,000 miles couldn’t stop this love!
We would like to thank you for supporting The Rossouws in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
Our love began when we met online just a month before the world shut down. Isolated and alone, in a time where we couldn’t see anyone, we never felt more see. We talked for hours, day after day, finding connection across oceans. We were the lights that guided each other through our darkest season. We could not meet in person for almost 3 years due to travel restrictions, but that just means we got to talk, all the time, about EVERYTHING!
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Meeting in person for the first time was like a first date with someone you already know by heart - shy, awkward, and surreal. We couldn’t break the ice at first, but then a spilled drink soaked us both in the car and we burst into laughter. That moment melted all the nerves away and reminded us that love doesn’t need perfect timing, it just needs the right person.
What would you do with $20,000?We’d use the $20,000 to honor our parents - the quiet heroes behind our love story. They held us up through the years apart, immigration struggles, and time zone tears. Their unwavering support carried us when we couldn’t carry ourselves. Giving back to them would be our greatest joy - a small way to say thank you for making our forever possible.
