Connect How did your love story begin?

We met at the famed Buenos Aires club, Milonga Tango Queer, where Katy was teaching a dance class. Fueled by 2 bottles of Malbec, Kim's BFF got Katy's number. Some cultural misunderstandings ensued (one of us was an hour late for our first date), but we spent the next 4 days together. Kim came back 3 months later and at the end of that first year, we decided to get married. We celebrate 8 years in August and are expecting our first baby—a girl—in October!

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our trip to Puerto Rico showcases our essence as a couple—dancing, eating, & adventure. The 1st night we started at a plena, dancing in the streets, then ended up dancing salsa at a club & eating chicken wings & tostones. The next, we rented scooters & maneuvered out of Old San Juan back to Santurce, a 4-mile ride on dark, unfamiliar streets, laughing while watching our backs the whole way. We drank Medallas out of neveritas every day & ended every night spending QT together in the hotel room.

What would you do with $20,000?

We’d take a babymoon to Tahiti. We’ve traveled together to our families’ homes—the Philippines and Cuba—so it would be so nice to prepare for our daughter’s birth in a place we’d be able to discover together. Polynesia has a special meaning for us both, especially after spending a few weeks on O’ahu a few years ago. The $20,000 would make it easy for us to enjoy the islands without worrying about cost.
