Connect How did your love story begin?

We met in LA after both moving across the world, me from NYC/NJ, her from Lagos by way of Oklahoma. I interviewed her for a trainer job and stretched the interview over an hour just to keep talking to her. I hired her, of course. We became fast friends, the kind that just clicked. Work hangouts turned into real hangouts, and the rest flowed like it was meant to be. No drama, just vibes and now here we are happily married.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

After a long day of working a pop-up, visiting a newborn, and catching up with friends, our car died, then the tow truck also broke down. Stranded on a dark mountain road, we laughed, prayed, and rode home illegally in our car on the back of the second tow truck, seats laid back, laughing the whole way. Our only frustration? Not being able to help a good friend the next day. That’s us, tired, joyful, and always showing up.

What would you do with $20,000?

60% would go toward a down payment on a permanent home that expands our role as a community hub, a space where folks come to heal, laugh, share, and grow. 30% would fund a platform to help couples build the kind of love and partnership we’ve found. The final 10% would support mental health care for bipoc, female & immigrant communities, because rest and healing should be a right, not a privilege.
